  • Completed. I built the new raised beds using yellow cedar. Landscape fabric was stapled along the bottom to prevent the soil from mixing with the gravel, and allowing the water to drain freely preventing both root rot and wood rot. The customer only wanted 2 garden beds to start.

The Customer had a rotting wooden deck with raised beds on it. They opted for a gravel area retained by concrete blocks to prevent future rotting.

    • The good planting dirt was removed into paper bags and put aside to be reused and then all of the rotten wood was taken away.
    • Perforated pipe was installed and hooked up to existing drainage to help water drain.
    • In ground irrigation was installed for future use so that the raised beds could be watered automatically.

There was originally more square feet of garden bed but the current layout will ultimately prove more efficient and allows for more to be added. The customer wanted only two garden beds to start.
